Ehyal and Kerry Shweiki established the Program for Rigor and Innovation in Education, PRIED, in 2013 as an expression of their strong interest in the science and practices of contemporary childhood education. Ehyal and Kerry have four school-aged children, sharing twenty years of collective independent-school experience.

Ehyal currently practices as a physician and surgeon. Ehyal’s parents are both teachers and instilled in him a life-long interest in education. Post his medical degree (MD), Ehyal obtained four distinct Board Certifications: Surgery, Surgical Critical Care, Neurologic Critical Care, and Hospice and Palliative Medicine. In further expressing his commitment to advancing one’s education, post his medical doctor degree, Ehyal also completed a Master’s Degree of Science in Bioethics. He continues to be actively engaged in clinical, academic, and research endeavors.

Kerry holds a Master’s of Science in Nursing, with a focused specialty in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine. Her more recent efforts have been specifically aimed in support and development of childhood education initiatives. Kerry served on the founding Board of the First State Montessori Academy, and co-founded Parent Teacher Organizations at the Elementary Workshop Montessori School and Wilmington Montessori School.

The value of PRIED’s independent school structure is depicted in the words of Thierry Stern, President of the legendary Swiss watchmaker, Patek-Philippe: being independent allows one “the freedom to explore the imagination uninhibited”. PRIED’s independent school structure will thus enable an innovative and dynamic educational model; a contemporary adolescent education, preparing today’s children for a world of tomorrows.
